The NYC Biking Culture Timeline: Before & After

The last two weeks I’ve spent analyzing the history and culture of biking in New York City. It was one of the most interesting research projects I’ve done in a while. As a city biker myself, I was really excited about this project. I’ve pretty much learned everything about the history of the public/service biking of New York City, including the many biking subcultures of the city. Here I present a work-in-progress timeline and infographics of the biking culture of NYC…

For this spread I tried to illustrate everything as close as possible to the originals: from street signs to the illustrated models of the many bikes one can spot in NYC. All of the illustration is done in Adobe Illustrator. No outside images are used.
