It’s my favorite store in NYC! I might as well just proudly wear one of theirs tote bags and/or drink out of their mugs!
One can not only find anything and more at a very reasonable price at The Strand Bookstore, but one can find the most peculiar and unique books that the other stores might not carry. I once found a coffee table book dedicated to the 80’s Moscow, Russia. Ones other books I found there was The Sartorialist by Scott Schuman, one of the most well-known fashion street photographer in the world (and a proud New Yorker), Hollywood and Erotica Universalis: From Pompeii to Picasso, which, by the way, make great ‘ice-breaker conversations’ for the house guests.
Not a month goes by without me peeking into the store and buying something from them. Moreover, they might carry something that no other store, including the Internet, might sell and it allows one to browse through it before committing to and buying it online.
And during the warm days, you can find their mini stand on the corner of Fifth Avenue and 59th – where the Central Park begins.
